Google finally released its first Android Q Beta, sharing its factory pictures and OTA files, after a series of rumors and leaks. “We release today Beta 1 for early adopters in Android Q and an SDK preview for developers,” said Google officially in an announcement.
The first beta is intended for developers and Android enthusiasts who are fond of the additional miles to get the latest features quickly. It is expected that the ultimate stable Android Q release will come in August.
The first beta is available for all Pixel smartphone generations so there is a small list of devices that taste the new dessert:
- Pixel XL
- Pixel 2
- Pixel 2 XL
- Pixel 3
- Pixel 3 XL
The First Looks
The Android Q contains many changes. The majority of changes are in the cap. Changes in privacy and security have occurred.
The changes that happened are still an ongoing process but we’ll discuss a few of them here.
In terms of display features, there has not been many changes and looks almost similar to the predecessor Android Pie.
One of the noticable changes you’ll see in the new Android is the font.
A slight change has been made to the icons that are displayed on the Android UI.
This feature will be appreciated by people a lot. In location settings, you can give specific apps for different permission. You can set it to all time or else only when the app is used.
If you are a person who takes privacy as an important concern then this location feature is for you.
Another thing you can do is in developer options. You can set accent colors in the new Android Q. The default is blue and it comes with options like black, green and purple.
In the previous versions of Android you can clear notifications by swiping them left or right. But from now on you can only clear them by swiping them to right.
But if you swipe them to left it brings up a context menu to snooze or block the notifiation.
Basically, you are forced to swipe your notifications to the right.
