Xiaomi has been a fierce competitor when it came to the budget segment. It was the preferred choice of brand. This company has released it’s latest smartphone Redmi Go, which is priced at Rs. 4,499/-.
Redmi Go is equipped with Android Oreo 8.1 (Go Edition) out of the box. The apps inside this phone are optimized as Go versions which consume lesser power than a normal smartphone as Redmi Go is less in specifications.

REDMI GO REVIEW: BUILD AND DESIGN
In terms of design, Redmi Go is not much of flagship. But it’s good for its price range.
It comes with a polycarbonate back without a fingerprint scanner. But also the back is designed in such a way that it is free from any kind of fingerprints.
USB type-C is not an option in this price range as this would be difficult for the company.
It comes with big bezels like you used to have in smartphones a year back.
Overall the design and build is average for a smartphone at this price.
REDMI GO REVIEW: DISPLAY
Redmi Go comes with a 5.0-inch display with a Resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The phone has big bezels both on top and bottom.
The bottom of the phone has 3 capacitive buttons with options like recent apps, home and back.
REDMI GO REVIEW: CAMERA
Redmi Go is equipped with an 8MP camera on the back and the camera UI is basically the same which you usually see on the Xiaomi Phones. The camera quality of this phone is not that much great but an average for its price range.
For selfies, Redmi Go comes with a 5MP secondary camera which is also the same as the primary one.
In terms of camera, this phone is not a much big improvement or I’ll rather say not an option to consider.
REDMI GO REVIEW: BATTERY LIFE
Redmi Go is fitted with a 3000 mAh battery. It uses a traditional USB type-2 charging cable.
There is no option for fast charging in this phone considering the price and the charger that comes with this phone is 5 volts and 1-ampere rating.
Xiaomi claims that this phone will run up to 12.5 hours on 4G calling and 10 days on standby mode.
REDMI GO REVIEW: SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE
The latest Redmi Go is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 which is clocked at 1.4 GHz and a quad-core processor.
The chipset comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM. It has 3 slots that mean you can use memory card too with 2 sim cards. Which is good as the memory inside the phone is less.
It comes with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) and by Go Edition it means that the apps inside this phone are optimized and you’ll get the lite versions of different applications.
The applications will take less power which is a great thing for a smartphone with fewer specifications.
You might not be able to play heavy games on this device considering the budget of the phone.
REDMI GO REVIEW: VERDICT
Recently Xiaomi launched a smartphone Redmi 5A which had similar hardware but came with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM.
Considering the price, the smartphone is good. But this phone is specifically for the person who is using a smartphone for the first time. As this phone has all the standard features it is not for pro users.
